  • The grocery stores have achieve the greatest precision in their price tagging. The hardware store have the lowest one.

  • More than 107 000 items have been verified.

  • 3.5% of the items were not correctly priced. Half of those were under the real price, the other one was over.

  • The average overcharge was $3.20 against $5.28 for those items priced under their real price.

  • In 43% of the stores visited there was no pricing errors.

  • 71% of the retail stores passed the inspection with an accuracy of more than 98% against 45% for the same study in 1996.
